Since there was no road, we had to hike along the creek to reach the road above, which led to the Fitzgibbons' home. Once we arrived at this section of Ogles Gap, the path became relatively manageable. However, we encountered some tree debris along the way, sections of the road that had washed out, and a couple of landslides blocking our route before we finally reached their house.

When we arrived, Alan was on his porch to greet us, and he was very happy to see us. He mentioned that Rob Adler and Andrew Harrington had come to visit him to use his internet and cell phone access. Once we connected to his internet, our phones started buzzing with text messages and calls from people checking in on us. We even received calls from individuals we didn’t know who were inquiring about residents on Ogles Gap.

Someone asked me how Faye Barrow was doing, and we were surprised to find out she was at her house. Faye lives on our road, Old Sawmill, and we were shocked that her family hadn't removed her from her home before the storm. She is our neighbor, doesn't have a car, cannot walk out of her home by herself, and has health issues. This is not an ideal situation under these circumstances.  We promised to check on her on our way home.

While we were with Alan, we could hear helicopters buzzing back and forth in our area.  We were positive they were search and rescue teams out looking for survivors at this point.  The problem up here is that there is nowhere to land a helicopter.  Lance and I promised people that we would check on a couple of people and get back to them tomorrow.  So we said goodbye to Alan and headed back towards home to check on Vicki Disney & Lori, Pat Archer, and Faye Barrows.

Faye was thrilled to see us. That night, she took her last blood pressure pill and had some water along with peanut butter and crackers. She didn't have a generator, but she did have an emergency radio and some candles. Unfortunately, she had no way to heat up any food. We tried bringing her a hot dinner later, but she told Lance she wouldn’t eat what we had prepared. What can you do?

It was another early night and off to bed we went.
